Gators Lose SEC Championship, Calipari Is Still A Cheater

Florida Gators Scottie Wilbekin (5) and Chandler Parsons (25) walk off the court after their game against the Kentucky Wildcats during the finals of the SEC Tournament on Sunday.

The Gators couldn't contain their frustration in the closing minutes of a 70-54 loss to Kentucky at the Georgia Dome. Florida lost its first SEC Tournament final game since 2004, when the Gators dropped a 79-63 outcome to the Wildcats.

"We definitely wanted to be on the other end," said Florida senior forward Chandler Parsons, who had nine points and 10 rebounds. "But we still have a couple of chances to do that."

No. 12 Florida (26-7) couldn't overcome an awful offensive performance. The Gators shot 38.6 percent from the field, had six more shots blocked and turned the ball over 14 times. Boynton led Florida with 10 points, but no other Florida player reached double-figures.  Pretty ugly game from start to finish.

Despite the loss, the Gators still earned a number two seed in the Southeast Region of the 2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament.  They face the 15th seed UC Santa Barbara on Thursday.  Kentucky might have won the Championship game, but the Gators still have the higher seed in the tourney.  The Wildfags enter as a 4 seed and will play UAB or Clemson.  So suck on that Calipari.
